A STUDY AND SQUIGGLE SPIRAL: a reading group for How To Break An Addiction

HTBAA doesn’t just present historical facts that formed part of our painful reality. It teaches a method for popular research that mobilizes into movement work. Going through the book collectively builds exactly in this actionable dimension of Annie’s work.

We developed a seven (weekly or bi-weekly) meeting format in which participants, having done their reading in advance, come together to discuss, analyze, and brainstorm practical implications. We will offer:

  1. audio recordings of the whole book for those who digest information better by listening than reading,
  2. a structure for the meetings,
  3. discussion and activity prompts catering towards inclusion of experiential knowledge, including somatic exercises, while maintaining a high research rigor, as well as
  4. an invitation to an eighth, online, meeting to connect with Annie.
